This was the first one rupee note to be printed during the reign of George VI, and marked a departure from earlier designs. The note says 'Government on India' in the top panel on the front (higher denominations say Reserve Bank of India). The right top has the obverse of the 1 rupee silver coin with the portrait of George VI the reverse carries the image of the other side
